Sin Joo Lee owns 2 sets of German table saws for precision cutting and we are able to cut plywood and panel products to your desired size.

S4S

Sand 4 Sides (S4S). All wood planks come rough and sawn from our forests direct. However, some applications such as for flooring or interior decorations call for sanded surfaces and hence S4S needed to be done to polish off its sawn nature.

Undergoing the S4S planning machine would take a few millimeters off each surface and it is important to factor this into your plans and calculations.

E2E

Eased 2 Edges (E2E). Wood planks by default come in perpendicular edges but their edges may be eased by slightly ‘rounding’ their corners to prevent sharp edges. This is especially popular for wall paneling or flooring to maximise bare-foot comfort.

While E2E is common, E4E (eased 4 edges) may also be done depending on your specification.

Grooving

Tongue & Groove is the woodworking term to mould out ‘grooves’ and ‘tongue’ from two different wood pieces so that they may be pieced together in an adjacent manner to prevent movement. This is usually used for wood parquet floor.

Another commonly used profile, similar to T&G, is shape-laps.

Rebate

Rebating is an ‘L-shape’ profile moulded out from a regular piece of solid wood popular for use as door frames. Precise rebating ensures that each door closes nicely on its edge with minimal surplus nor inadequate space.

Cross-Cutting

In Sin Joo Lee, we take cross-cut as a serious business. Unlike others, we do not use a table-saw to perform cross-cutting as we are particular to clients’ precise requirements.

We own a semi-automated machine to only perform cross-cutting and since then, regulars had come back to us for this service.

CCA Treatment

Copper Chrome Arsenic (CCA) Treatment is to treat wood products against the possibility of pests and fungi infestations.

Especially popular for wood used in wet and moist conditions or for export to agricultural countries. CCA-treated wood is said to have an expectancy twice the life span of its original specie.

Fire Rated Treatment

Areas, where wood is mandatory for use and with the application of a fire-rated treatment, make it a poor retardant to open flame. Not all wood and panel products are suited for fire-rated treatment, and it is advisable that you discuss this with our Sales Personnel prior to making a purchase.
